Frequently Asked Questions

Multiply each category average by its weight, then sum. Example: Exams (50%) avg 85, Homework (30%) avg 92, Participation (20%) avg 88. Grade = (85×0.5) + (92×0.3) + (88×0.2) = 42.5 + 27.6 + 17.6 = 87.7%.

Formula: Needed = (Target - Current×(1-FinalWeight)) / FinalWeight. If you need 90%, have 85%, final is 30%: (90 - 85×0.7) / 0.3 = (90-59.5)/0.3 = 101.7% (impossible, so aim for B+).

Calculate average after removing lowest score(s). If dropping lowest of 85, 90, 70, 88: drop 70, average = (85+90+88)/3 = 87.7%. Our calculator handles multiple drops and weighted categories.

A curve adjusts grades based on class performance. Common methods: add points to everyone (if highest was 92, add 8 points), scale to distribution (top 10% get A), or adjust based on standard deviation. Ask your professor which method they use.
