Frequently Asked Questions

IP Lookup is a tool that retrieves geolocation and network information for any IP address. It provides details including country, region, city, ISP/organization name, latitude/longitude coordinates, timezone, and AS (Autonomous System) number.

IPv4 addresses are 32-bit numbers written as four decimal numbers (e.g., 192.168.1.1), while IPv6 addresses are 128-bit numbers written in hexadecimal (e.g., 2001:0db8:85a3::8a2e:0370:7334). IPv6 was created to address the shortage of available IPv4 addresses.

IP geolocation accuracy varies. Country-level accuracy is typically 95-99%, while city-level accuracy ranges from 50-80%. VPNs, proxies, and mobile networks can affect accuracy. ISP information is usually very accurate.

An AS Number (Autonomous System Number) is a unique identifier assigned to a network or collection of IP networks that operate under a single routing policy. ISPs, large companies, and universities typically have their own ASN.
