Fuel Cost Formula
Fuel Cost = (Distance / Fuel Efficiency) x Fuel Price
Calculate fuel needed first, then multiply by price per unit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Divide the total distance by your car's fuel efficiency (MPG or km/L), then multiply by the fuel price. For a 300-mile trip at 30 MPG with $3.50/gallon gas: 300/30 = 10 gallons, 10 x $3.50 = $35 fuel cost.
Factors include: driving speed (55-65 mph is optimal), tire pressure, vehicle weight, air conditioning use, driving style (aggressive vs smooth), terrain, and vehicle maintenance. Highway driving is more efficient than city driving.
Divide 235.215 by MPG to get L/100km. For 30 MPG: 235.215/30 = 7.84 L/100km. Lower L/100km is better (less fuel per distance). Our calculator handles these conversions automatically.
Only if your car requires it (check owner's manual). Using premium in a car designed for regular provides no benefit. Using regular in a premium-required car can reduce performance and potentially cause engine damage.
